UK Status Resident. Widespread and common throughout the British Isles, but more common in the south. Montgomeryshire Status Lightly recorded across the county. Wingspan : M & F, 7-8mm. Confusion species Many species of Phyllonorycter are extremely similar, great care should be given when separating these species. It is often impossible to separate the adults of some species. |

(Bivoltine)  Habitat Wherever the foodplant is found. Foodplant Hazel. Lifestage data Leaf miner. Eggs laid on underside of leaf. Larva forms an elongate mine 15-20mm long, generally between the veins. Pupates in a white cocoon within the mine. |
